17th Hole — 374 Yards, Par 4 (Plantation)

The Plateau Test

A strategic hole from the start. The tee shot must steer clear of Ker Wood East and the two young tree plantations. Unless your drive is either long or well positioned to the left, you may be left without a clear view of the flag on the elevated plateau green. With the fairway sloping gently from left to right, a line up the left side lets the natural contours feed the ball down, setting up the best angle for the approach.

The green is guarded by two bunkers—one notably deep—so accuracy on the approach is vital. Find the surface and you’ll still face an uphill putt that can be tricky to judge if your distance control isn’t spot on. A tee shot in the fairway gives a genuine chance to post a solid score.

At first glance it seems straightforward, but local knowledge pays. Without the correct angle from the tee, the elevated green becomes blind and far less forgiving. Understanding how the fairway falls and where to miss makes the difference between a simple look at par and a scrambled bogey.
